If you are combining this journey with Japan, you fly from Tokyo to Seoul today.
Highlights
• Departure from Johannesburg
• Optional Japan and Korea combination
Arrive at Incheon International Airport and transfer to your hotel in central Seoul. You’ll have time to rest and unpack.
In the evening, you join your fellow travellers for a welcome dinner. Our first introduction to Korean flavours and a moment to connect before we start exploring in the morning.
Highlights
• Arrival in South Korea
• Welcome dinner
Spring reveals Seoul at its most graceful, softening the formal lines of palaces and courtyards with new growth. Pale cherry blossoms and yellow forsythia steal the show.
At Gyeongbokgung Palace, gardens frame the architecture of the Joseon dynasty, the period that shaped Korea’s court culture and social order for over 500 years.
At Jongmyo Shrine, the pared-back design reflects ideas of ancestry, continuity and ritual. In Bukchon Hanok Village, you walk narrow lanes between traditional houses, where light and season shape the rhythm of the neighbourhood.
Later, take part in a mother-of-pearl craft experience, where patience and repetition meet natural inspiration.
Highlights
• Gyeongbokgung Palace
• Jongmyo Shrine
• Bukchon Hanok Village
• Mother-of-pearl craft experience
Begin your day with a Korean cooking class, where you prepare and enjoy a meal using seasonal ingredients. It’s a hands-on way to experience Korean home cooking.
The afternoon is yours to enjoy more of what Seoul has to offer. You may visit contemporary galleries, shop for skincare or stationery, or enjoy a quiet café in a nearby neighbourhood. Your guide is available for suggestions throughout the day.
Highlights
• Korean cooking class
• Free time for art, design and neighbourhood exploration
Today focuses on how nature is integrated into city life.
At Seoul Botanic Park, you walk through seasonal plantings and glasshouses that reflect a contemporary connection to landscape. From there, you continue to Seonyudo Park, a former industrial site now transformed into a riverside garden.
Later, take a river cruise on the Han. Look for cherry trees along the water, their petals often caught in the breeze. As the light shifts across the water the city opens up around you, offering a quieter view of Seoul.
Highlights
• Seoul Botanic Park
• Seonyudo Park
• Han River cruise
This morning you transfer to Gimpo Airport for a short domestic flight to Jeju Island, a distinctive landscape carved by wind, sea and geological history.
Often described as Korea’s most elemental region, Jeju feels spacious and pared back. The volcanic coastline, soft fields and slower rhythm offer a quiet contrast to the structure of the city.
On arrival, the afternoon is left open for rest or light exploration of the hotel surroundings.
Highlights
• Domestic flight to Jeju
• Free afternoon for rest or light exploration
Today you encounter one of Jeju’s most defining cultural traditions, the haenyeo, or women divers.
For generations, these women have harvested the sea without oxygen tanks, building an independent economy with resilience and respect for the natural world. Their story reflects a striking contrast to mainland Korea’s Confucian hierarchy.
You begin at the Haenyeo Museum, then continue along the eastern coast. At Seongsan Ilchulbong, you view the volcanic landscape from the base, followed by a stop at Seopjikoji Cape where the horizon feels wide and open.
In the evening, you share a haenyeo-style dinner and performance that brings their traditions to life through food, sound and presence.
Highlights
• Haenyeo Museum
• Seongsan Ilchulbong (view from base)
• Seopjikoji Cape
• Haenyeo dinner and performance
At this time of year tea plants begin to stir, and the island’s colours shift. Bright canola flowers open across coastal fields, adding vivid yellow to the green and stone.
Begin at Hallim Park, where curated gardens and lava formations reflect the island’s distinct ecology. Pause at Hyeopjae Beach, where volcanic rock and sea meet without the signs of commercial tourism.
At O’Sulloc Tea Plantation, walk among rows of green tea and learn how this crop is tied to seasonality, philosophy and restraint. Later, visit Daepo Jusangjeolli Cliff, where long basalt columns reveal the island’s volcanic past.
Walking is kept gentle and optional throughout the day.
Highlights
• Hallim Park
• O’Sulloc Tea Plantation
• Hyeopjae Beach
• Daepo Jusangjeolli Cliff
Fly to Busan, a coastal city influenced by port life, movement and reinvention.
Visit Gamcheon Culture Village, a hillside neighbourhood originally built by refugees after the Korean War. Over time, the area has been remade by artists and residents, reflecting both struggle and imagination.
Later, walk through Jagalchi Fish Market, where Busan’s connection to the sea is visible in its rhythms, commerce and everyday life.
Highlights
• Domestic flight to Busan
• Gamcheon Culture Village
• Jagalchi Fish Market
Begin with a walk through Haeundae Blueline Park, a scenic path set along a disused railway above the sea. From here, continue through the Haeundae coastal area, where the shoreline opens up and the air carries the scent of salt and pine.
The afternoon is yours to explore. You may browse galleries, visit local design stores, enjoy café culture or simply walk along the water. Your guide is available with suggestions throughout the day.
Highlights
• Haeundae Blueline Park
• Haeundae coastal area

This morning you travel inland to Gyeongju, once the capital of the Silla Kingdom, which ruled much of the Korean peninsula for nearly a thousand years. It remains one of Korea’s most historically layered cities.
In spring, royal burial mounds are edged with grasses and azaleas. At the Daereungwon Tomb Complex and Cheomseongdae Observatory, you reflect on how belief systems and early scientific thinking formed the culture of this ancient capital.
In the afternoon, visit Bulguksa Temple and Seokguram Grotto.

We travel to Andong. Here, in Hahoe Village, a UNESCO-listed living settlement, you walk through a landscape where architecture, ritual and clan structure continue to shape the pace of life. This is one of the places where Confucian values, such as respect for lineage, learning and social order, are still visible in everyday customs and spatial design.
Later, take part in a traditional soju brewing experience and learn how regional identity is preserved through small-scale craft and hospitality. In the evening, you gather for a farewell dinner and spend the night in a restored hanok, where the architecture invites stillness and simplicity.

We are here to help
The tour leader collects a set amount from each member of a tour. This kitty is then used to tip the local tour guide and city guides, bus drivers, any other assistants, and restaurant staff. We believe in tipping for good service as a token of appreciation, especially as many workers in tourism rely on tips to supplement their income.
Although we cannot apply on your behalf, we are more than willing to give guidance and assistance with completing forms. We do this for many clients on a near-daily basis. It does, however, remain the responsibility of the client to ensure that they get the correct visa on time.
Remember that we limit the number of guests on our tours. This means more time at stops and sites. We definitely do not do groups of 30 pax, where guests are rushed from one site to the other. There is enough time to explore on your own.
We always suggest USD/Euro 50 to USD/Euro 100 per person per day. As we mostly include two meals per day on our tours, this will be enough for lunch/dinner, some snacks, and memento shopping. Should you want to buy larger items, we suggest taking along your credit card. Remember to advise the bank that you will be travelling.
Once you have completed the form, you will receive an email with the itinerary which includes pricing, inclusions and flight options.
