Itinerary

Day 1
The Adventure Begins

We meet at O.R. Tambo International Airport for the first leg of our much-anticipated trip: the flight to Casablanca. As you cast your mind towards a journey that will take you from city to Sahara.

Day 2
The Coastal Cities

After arriving in Casablanca, we meet our Moroccan guide and begin with a gentle introduction to the city. Known as “The White City,” Casablanca blends Arab heritage and French colonial architecture with the rhythm of modern Moroccan life. We drive along Anfa Boulevard, passing elegant villas and busy cafés, and pause to admire the Hassan II Mosque; its minaret towering above the Atlantic.

We then head to Rabat, Morocco’s coastal capital. Rabat provides a softer landing thanks to its wide boulevards, gardens, and slower pace. On arrival, there’s time to settle in before an early evening stroll and a relaxed welcome dinner; a chance to connect and look ahead to the journey that awaits.

Highlights:

  • Scenic drive along Anfa Boulevard
  • Rabat, Morocco’s relaxed coastal capital

Day 3
The Blue Pearl

We enjoy breakfast at the hotel and take a tour of Rabat, passing the Hassan Tower, a beautiful minaret, and the Kasbah of Udayas. Next, we depart for Chefchaouen, a city of winding alleys and cobbled streets nestled in the Rif Mountains. Also known as The Blue Pearl, The Blue Diamond or The Charming Bride, Chefchaouen’s walls are rinsed in blue and white, giving the impression that you’ve stepped into an azure dream. We meander through the medina and browse the handcrafts in the souks. Hints of the city’s Andalusian heritage can be seen in its curved archways, little balconies and tiled roofs. In Chefchaouen, the city itself is the attraction, with something new to offer around every corner.

Tonight, we have dinner at our hotel, an authentic Moroccan riad.

Highlights:

  • Guided visit to Rabat’s Hassan Tower and the Kasbah of Udayas
  • Scenic drive into the Rif Mountains
  • Guided walk through Chefchaouen’s medina and souks

Day 4
Journey to Fez

We leave Chefchaouen behind and travel to Fez via Meknes, one of Morocco’s four imperial cities. En route, we pause to admire two of its most iconic landmarks: Bab El-Khemis and the grand Bab Mansour gate.

On arrival in Fez, we settle into our hotel – our base for exploring this historic city. Fez is made up of the old medina (Fes El Bali), the newer walled district (Fes Jdid) and the more modern Ville Nouvelle.

As Morocco’s cultural heart, Fez offers a glimpse into the past and present. Its medina, founded in the 8th century, is one of the oldest in the Arab world and still very much alive; home to markets, workshops and families who live within its ancient walls.

We enjoy dinner at the hotel tonight.

Highlights:

  • Drive through the countryside with a stop in Meknes
  • Visits to Bab El-Khemis and Bab Mansour

Day 5
The Timeless Medina

After breakfast, we step into the heart of Fez with a guided walk through the medina. Fes El Bali, a maze of over 9,000 alleyways, is believed to be the world’s largest car-free urban area. It’s here, in narrow lanes and hidden courtyards, that some of the city’s richest treasures are found.

We visit the tanneries and the Al-Karaouine University and Mosque and have lunch at our leisure before heading to the Marinid Tombs, a crumbling hilltop site with panoramic views of the old city.

The afternoon brings more glimpses of fine craftsmanship: the Bou Inania and Attarine madrasas, the Nejjarine Fountain, and the intricate work that Fez is known for. There’s time to browse the souks, with their leather, mosaics, and pottery.

Dinner is at Palais Al Firdaous, where traditional dishes are served in a richly decorated setting.

Into the Desert

We leave the city behind and begin our journey towards the desert. It’s a day on the road, with landscapes that shift as we go; have your camera close.

We pass through Ifrane, with its alpine feel, and continue into cedar forests and the wide plateaus of the Middle Atlas. In Midelt, a quiet rural town, Berber culture comes into focus.

By late afternoon, we reach Erfoud. Built from the earth it stands on, this desert town marks our arrival at the edge of the Sahara. We check into the hotel and gather for dinner.

The desert gives way to towering cliffs in Todgha Gorge, where the river carves a deep ravine through rose-coloured rock. Further west, we pass through the Dadès Valley, a green ribbon in the arid landscape famous for its rose fields.

By evening, we arrive at Aït Benhaddou and settle in for dinner at our hotel.

The site is now protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has appeared in films like Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia.

FAQs

We are here to help

The tour leader collects a set amount from each member of a tour. This kitty is then used to tip the local tour guide and city guides, bus drivers, any other assistants, and restaurant staff. We believe in tipping for good service as a token of appreciation, especially as many workers in tourism rely on tips to supplement their income.

Although we cannot apply on your behalf, we are more than willing to give guidance and assistance with completing forms. We do this for many clients on a near-daily basis. It does, however, remain the responsibility of the client to ensure that they get the correct visa on time.

Remember that we limit the number of guests on our tours. This means more time at stops and sites. We definitely do not do groups of 30 pax, where guests are rushed from one site to the other. There is enough time to explore on your own.

We always suggest USD/Euro 50 to USD/Euro 100 per person per day. As we mostly include two meals per day on our tours, this will be enough for lunch/dinner, some snacks, and memento shopping. Should you want to buy larger items, we suggest taking along your credit card. Remember to advise the bank that you will be travelling.

Once you have completed the form, you will receive an email with the itinerary which includes pricing, inclusions and flight options.
