What to expect

Itinerary

Day 1
Nairobi at leisure

Your adventure of a lifetime starts at O.R. Tambo International Airport, where you will meet your fellow travellers at the check-in counters before embarking on your flight to Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya.

Upon arrival, you will collect your bags and meet the tour’s expert local guides.

You will be transferred to the Fourpoints by Sheraton Hotel; you’re free to unwind, explore a little, or simply take in the new surroundings at your own pace.

Day 2
Amboseli safari adventure

After an early breakfast, we head to the station and board the train to Emali, an exciting journey that gives us a glimpse of rural Kenya in motion. On arrival, our driver-guides greet us, and we set off on a thrilling road transfer into the heart of Amboseli. At Ol Tukai Lodge, we check in and enjoy lunch before venturing out on our first game drive, ready to track wildlife against the dramatic backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Amboseli’s vast grasslands and acacia woodlands offer magnificent views of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro from anywhere in the park. The name “Amboseli” comes from a Maasai word meaning “salty dust”. The park is home to Africa’s largest elephants, often seen around its many swamps. Along the way, you may glimpse the colourful homes of the Maasai tribe, who have lived here for centuries. The park also shelters abundant wildlife, including buffalo, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, zebras and wildebeests, and is a paradise for birdwatchers.

We return to Ol Tukai Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Highlights:

  • Scenic train journey through rural Kenya
  • First game drive with Mount Kilimanjaro views

Day 3-4
Tranquil Amboseli wildlife exploration

Spend two full days immersed in the wild beauty of Amboseli National Park, with morning and afternoon game drives that bring you close to nature’s rhythms. Depending on wildlife activity, we may visit Mzima Springs today; a serene oasis where crystal-clear waters, filtered through the Chyulu Hills, mirror the surrounding fig and acacia trees. Hippos and crocodiles often gather here in the cool shallows. If time and conditions allow, we’ll also explore the Shetani Lava Flow, an ancient, rugged landscape dotted with hidden lava caves. (Alternatively, these visits may shift to Day 6 depending on sightings.)

Keep watch for possible sightings of elephants, giraffes, lions, or even a fleeting leopard while sunbirds and hornbills dance overhead. Return for a calm dinner and overnight stay beneath the stars.

FAQs

We are here to help

The tour leader collects a set amount from each member of a tour. This kitty is then used to tip the local tour guide and city guides, bus drivers, any other assistants, and restaurant staff. We believe in tipping for good service as a token of appreciation, especially as many workers in tourism rely on tips to supplement their income.

Although we cannot apply on your behalf, we are more than willing to give guidance and assistance with completing forms. We do this for many clients on a near-daily basis. It does, however, remain the responsibility of the client to ensure that they get the correct visa on time.

Remember that we limit the number of guests on our tours. This means more time at stops and sites. We definitely do not do groups of 30 pax, where guests are rushed from one site to the other. There is enough time to explore on your own.

We always suggest USD/Euro 50 to USD/Euro 100 per person per day. As we mostly include two meals per day on our tours, this will be enough for lunch/dinner, some snacks, and memento shopping. Should you want to buy larger items, we suggest taking along your credit card. Remember to advise the bank that you will be travelling.

Once you have completed the form, you will receive an email with the itinerary which includes pricing, inclusions and flight options.
