Itinerary

Day 1
Into the Unknown

We meet at O.R. Tambo International, ready to embark on a journey that will have us wandering the vibrant streets of Buenos Aires, standing in awe before the glaciers of Patagonia, and savouring the finest wines in Chile’s renowned vineyards.

Day 2
Bienvenidos a Buenos Aires

Welcome to Buenos Aires, a city where European elegance meets Latin energy. Tango threads through the streets, asado scents the air, and history sits shoulder to shoulder with contemporary style.

After your arrival at Ezeiza International Airport, enjoy a seamless transfer and early check-in at your hotel before we head out to explore the city.

Our tour begins in Plaza de Mayo, surrounded by the Cabildo, the Metropolitan Cathedral, and the iconic “Pink House”. We continue through Recoleta and Palermo, known for graceful boulevards, leafy parks, and notable architecture, and pause at the Colón Theatre, one of the world’s leading opera houses.

Then it’s on to San Telmo, with its timeworn streets and old-world charm, followed by colourful La Boca and its lively Caminito. We end in Puerto Madero, the city’s sleek waterfront district: a striking contrast to its historic heart.

  • Walk through Plaza de Mayo with the Cabildo, Cathedral and Casa Rosada.
  • Drive through Recoleta and Palermo with their parks and avenues.
  • Stop at the Colón Theatre.
  • Visit San Telmo’s older streets and colourful La Boca.

  • Optional visit to the Paraná Delta and the San Isidro district.
  • Evening dinner with a tango performance tracing the dance’s story.

Day 4
Discovering Patagonia

After breakfast, we transfer to Jorge Newbery International Airport for our flight to El Calafate, the gateway to the rugged wilderness of Patagonia. This vast region stretches across the southern tip of South America, crossing the border between Argentina and Chile. Patagonia, also known as “the end of the earth”, is a spectacular environment of towering mountain peaks, clean lakes, ethereal glaciers, and ancient forests; a surreal combination that makes it one of the most beautiful places in the world.

El Calafate is a lovely hamlet situated against the snow-capped Andes, surrounded by the turquoise waters of Lake Argentino. The town is named after the indigenous calafate fruit, which folklore says ensures your return to Patagonia once consumed. It has become a magnet for nature enthusiasts and explorers.

On arrival at Comandante Armando Tola International Airport, we transfer to the hotel. In the evening, we gather at a local restaurant to share a delicious dinner. Tomorrow, we will explore the village’s star attraction: the Perito Moreno Glacier.

Highlights:

  • Fly from Buenos Aires to El Calafate.
  • Take in your first views of the Patagonian landscape around Lake Argentino.
  • Settle in and enjoy dinner as the adventure begins.

Day 5

Today, we set out for Los Glaciares National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site about 50 miles from El Calafate. As we enter the park, the Patagonian steppe stretches out with grassy plains and distant mountains, while the Andean forest welcomes us with its beech trees and wildlife such as foxes, pumas, and huemul deer.

We explore the magnificent Perito Moreno Glacier, a 30 km-long, 5 km-wide frozen giant that continues to advance, growing up to 2 metres daily. Its footbridges offer amazing views of the glacier’s towering ice walls, and you can listen to the thrilling sounds of ice calving into the lake.

Next, we board a comfortable catamaran for a close-up journey along Lake Argentino, admiring the intricate ice formations and hoping to witness the dramatic calvings. After lunch in the park, we return to El Calafate for an evening at leisure.

  • Visit Los Glaciares National Park.
  • Walk the viewing platforms facing Perito Moreno Glacier.
  • Catamaran cruise along Lake Argentino for closer glacier views.

Torres Del Paine, established in 1959 and a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve since 1978, is considered South America’s finest national park. Its soaring granite peaks, lush forests, and vibrant blue waters create a dramatic and ever-changing landscape where nature truly rules.

As we navigate the ice-cold waters, floating icebergs and forested mountains drift by until we reach the impressive Grey Glacier. Here, we admire its towering ice walls while enjoying an aperitif aboard the boat.

Afterwards, we visit some of the park’s most breathtaking sights: Lake Pehoé with beautiful views of the Paine Massif, Salto Grande waterfall, and Amarga Lagoon. Settle in at Hotel Costa Australis, where the day concludes with a relaxing dinner enjoyed at the hotel.

Day 8
The Balmaceda & Serrano Glaciers

Puerto Natales, founded at the turn of the 20th century amid a booming sheep-farming industry, is nestled by the water’s edge and surrounded by dry scrubland. While ranches and cowboys still dot the outskirts, today the town serves as a gateway to the wild Patagonian wilderness.

After breakfast, we travel to nearby Puerto Bories and board a catamaran for a scenic voyage through the glassy waters of Última Esperanza Sound. Cruising past snow-dusted peaks and waterfalls, we reach the Balmaceda Glacier, its retreat a striking reminder of nature’s changes. A gentle 15-minute walk brings us to the lake formed by its meltwater, before continuing to the imposing face of Serrano Glacier. We ride one of Valparaíso’s famous funicular elevators to enjoy sweeping views of the city, visit the parliamentary buildings, and see the memorial honouring heroes of the War of the Pacific.

FAQs

We are here to help

The tour leader collects a set amount from each member of a tour. This kitty is then used to tip the local tour guide and city guides, bus drivers, any other assistants, and restaurant staff. We believe in tipping for good service as a token of appreciation, especially as many workers in tourism rely on tips to supplement their income.

Although we cannot apply on your behalf, we are more than willing to give guidance and assistance with completing forms. We do this for many clients on a near-daily basis. It does, however, remain the responsibility of the client to ensure that they get the correct visa on time.

Remember that we limit the number of guests on our tours. This means more time at stops and sites. We definitely do not do groups of 30 pax, where guests are rushed from one site to the other. There is enough time to explore on your own.

We always suggest USD/Euro 50 to USD/Euro 100 per person per day. As we mostly include two meals per day on our tours, this will be enough for lunch/dinner, some snacks, and memento shopping. Should you want to buy larger items, we suggest taking along your credit card. Remember to advise the bank that you will be travelling.

Once you have completed the form, you will receive an email with the itinerary which includes pricing, inclusions and flight options.
