Experience the vibrance of Pole Pole Tanzania

Pole pole, pronounced pohlay pohlay, is Swahili for ‘slowly, slowly,’ but direct translation doesn’t reflect the true meaning of this Tanzanian phrase. Pole pole is an approach, a way of being that is best summed up as unhurried, relaxed and easygoing.

It’s in this spirit that we journey into the Tanzanian wilderness. We’ll spend eight nights embracing the rhythms of the African bush, taking the time to experience the sights, sounds and smells of the Serengeti.

Pole Pole Tanzania takes us to three of Northern Tanzania’s most famous game reserves. We visit the South and Central Serengeti to see the sights of the Great Migration. Every year millions of wildebeest make the 800-kilometer trek from the Serengeti in Tanzania to Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve and back again. Following the rains in search of water and food, they flood the endless plains in immense numbers, creating an epic wildlife spectacle.

Our tour complements excellent wildlife viewing with stays in luxury African lodges which invite you to unwind and disconnect. Our safari ends with two nights in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where we stay on the rim of the crater. Panoramic views of this UNESCO World Heritage Site greet us at the end of every day, a refreshing tonic to the rush of everyday life.

The result of over 17 years of experience in Tanzanian safaris, we’ve designed Pole Pole Tanzania to allow you to enjoy the magic of the Great Migration without worrying about the complex details.

FAQs

We are here to help

The tour leader collects a set amount from each member of a tour. This kitty is then used to tip the local tour guide and city guides, bus drivers, any other assistants, and restaurant staff. We believe in tipping for good service as a token of appreciation, especially as many workers in tourism rely on tips to supplement their income.

Although we cannot apply on your behalf, we are more than willing to give guidance and assistance with completing forms. We do this for many clients on a near-daily basis. It does, however, remain the responsibility of the client to ensure that they get the correct visa on time.

Remember that we limit the number of guests on our tours. This means more time at stops and sites. We definitely do not do groups of 30 pax, where guests are rushed from one site to the other. There is enough time to explore on your own.

We always suggest USD/Euro 50 to USD/Euro 100 per person per day. As we mostly include two meals per day on our tours, this will be enough for lunch/dinner, some snacks, and memento shopping. Should you want to buy larger items, we suggest taking along your credit card. Remember to advise the bank that you will be travelling.
